But I couldn't bring myself to write more. The story ended in Switzerland, where the peacemakers were ruling in favor of the thugs while the suffering continued. He felt it was time to get out of Bosnia before he was killed, like some of the other people he knew. I really didn't want to pick the book up again to write about it. I emailed Peter Maass and thanked him for writing such a profound book. He thanked me. I did not, however, ask to put excepts from his book into my blog. I most likely will go back and edit them out.
