Deep River Park...nature walk with my daughter and friends

Osage Orange tree

Late winter in northwest Indiana just looks brown. Brown tree trunks, brown bushes, brown leaves on the ground and brown dirt. We enjoyed the walk anyway...fresh air, mild weather finally after such a cold March. We plan to return once things start growing and the leaves are on the trees.

Lots of work today, no time to read

So today's post will be short, at least for now, unless I decide to write more later. I wanted to comment briefly on the "fill in the blanks" paragraph at the end of yesterday's post. A reader kindly responded, thank you, and asked me to please read more, to understand the threat of Islam. I want to say, first of all, my intent with the "fill in the blanks" was that any currently hated group could be entered there. There are several that come to mind and most have nothing to do with religion, more with color of skin or sexual orientation. Secondly, these books I am reading are not debating Islam versus Christianity. It is not fair to lump the Balkan Muslims in with the Arab Muslims because they really don't see much eye to eye with each other. Though I don't know any Bosnian Muslims, I can tell you the Muslims of Kosovo tend to be American flag-waving champions of the USA. They love us over there and they are very Christian-tolerant, even to the point of mixed-faith families. Kosovo celebrates our 4th of July in our honor and wishes us Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Kosovo, I love you too! note--these are not my photos, I downloaded them from Shkabaj news.

Important History

I have a dear friend in Europe, in Kosovo to be exact. Spelled Kosova to the locals. I have learned a lot about this new country. Many people may not know or remember much of what happened. My friend watched the NATO bombing of the Serb bases around the capital city, Pristina, spelled Prishtina and Prishtinë by the locals. My friend told me, it was a dirty war. The Serbs were killing civilians. It's true, and documented. I cry when I watch this series of videos published by the New York Times. Please take the time to watch it, and remember, just like we must always remember the Holocaust.
Endgame in Kosovo

Next post will be something happier.

Good bye Sky

Here I am all depressed and stuff because things aren't going the way I hoped in my life. And then I find out an Internet buddy lost her battle with cancer yesterday, leaving behind two teenage children. God Bless, Sky, and sending prayers for your family.
