I tackled the utility room today, and some boxes of papers, old bills and things I needed to shred and never did. Years ago when we had a fireplace I could toss them in the fire. But that was years ago, and it was a long time before we bought a shredder. So, faced with boxes of stuff to shred, one page at a time, it was taking forever!!! The solution...the city recycling will accept 4 paper grocery bags of papers and they will shred them for you in a big machine that I have yet to see operate. They let you watch, so you know they aren't going through your stuff. So I have my 4 bags full. Can't wait to get rid of them!
Other items have gone to freecycle, some on eBay, and some will be donated. I also have some more extra African Violets. Now if I can only find someone to send them to. I can't do too much packing this far in advance but I have boxed up some of my mementos and keepsakes. My goal is to get rid of the clutter and make it easy to finish packing when the time comes to move.
