It's been awhile since I wrote. Been busy, haven't been in the mood, or I only think of something to say after I turn off the computer. Take your pick---whatever excuse sounds best. Anyway, I have been busy. When I'm not fiddling with my violets or catching up on housework after being sick, I've been catching up on work.
Today I tossed some extra, not-so-well-performing violets. That gives the better ones room to grow. Since I have not found a way to expend my growing area, my violets have to fit where they are. I also finished up a laptop for a new employee and packed up all of his equipment. Tomorrow morning I bring it to him at his orientation.
Also today dad and I tried out his new electric meat grinder. It's WAY easier than the hand cranked one. In fact dad cut up the meat and I ground it. The parts are lighter and easier to wash. The hand cranked one weighs so much it's like a boat anchor.
Another thing I've been doing is flying over some of the properties for sale in southern Indiana so I can get a better idea of the areas. Now, lest you think I have a pilot's license, let me just tell you that I fly around in Google Earth. It works fairly well, if you can follow the roads to the property. So far I have found all but one of the properties I wanted to know more about. Of course, since we have no idea what our house would sell for, I can only guess what price range to look at.
Have you ever noticed most of the pictures of houses for sale are from the street looking at the house, but NEVER from inside looking out. Of course you want to see what the house looks like, but since I don't plan to live in the street, I'd like to see what the VIEW is out the WINDOW!!! I have found that Google Earth does help in a limited way. This is what I've found near the houses I've "looked" at:
* a farmer's field across the street (dust, fertilizer, etc.)
* a large round tank 2 doors west (it casts a big shadow so it's tall---water tank?)
* an oil storage place across the street to the south (bet those fumes smell good in summer)
The weather today is mild, 53 degrees and now it's still 50. We had rain and thunder, which means the dog is hiding. Might be a flurry toward morning and then it's supposed to be clear. When I get home dad and I are going shopping.
Consumer Affairs published my report about my bad experience with my HFA inhaler. It's dated 02/16/2009 and I think it's about #41 in the list of reports published on the 16th. I heard some encouraging news from the Save CFC Inhalers campaign. Several current and former government safety officers are reviewing the Save CFC Inhalers website and MedWatch Data in preparation for a press release. A couple newspapers are picking up some of the stories, too. I really feel that a difference is going to be made! As for me, I'm doing ok on the Xopenex HFA but not good. I stay mildly congested, but I am trying to save what's left of my CFC inhaler in case I get worse. I did call Senator Lugar's office and wrote President Obama again.
In closing I want to stress, if you are having or have had a bad reaction to a medicine, REPORT it!! Please! Next time I will list the websites where you should make a report.
